Somebody from QSSL mentioned a while back (in one of the qdn.* groups) that
the only impediment to releasing deja-view was a patent issue, and that a
“big friend” of QSSL with a very large patent portfolio, was going to see if
the company that holds the patent interfering with deja-views release
infringed on any of their patents (which, if the “big friend” is who I think
it is, would lead me to suspect that almost everybody who writes software
violates at least one of their patents ; with the obvious solution being
a cross license (i.e. exchange of bogus patents). I haven’t heard anything
since.
