Wheel mouse support?

Is there/will there ever be wheel mouse support under QNX4? I’ve got used to
using one under Windows, and having to do without it under QX4/Photon is
almost like having part of one’s anatomy removed!

thanks

I think I saw one available on www.qnxstart.com

Thanks - I had a look but it appears to be for the RTP only. If any of the
QSSL guys are reading this. is there any chance of a QNX4 version?

The problem with wheel mouse support is in detecting that you have one. It’s
very likely that the act of trying to detect your wheel mouse will make
someone elses mouse not work.

Faced with the choice of adding a new feature that was never available at
the risk of making working systems stop working or not adding it, we would
probably not want to rock the boat.

Since QNX4 isn’t really about auto-detect like QRTP is I think
an option to Input indicating a wheel mouse is present would make most
of us happy?

OK… but you may have to wait a long time… possibly forever.

But I thought that “The problem with wheel mouse support is in detecting
that you have one” (i.e., implying that actually producing the driver is -
well, - trivial). If the auto-detect simply defaults to a non-wheel mouse,
and the user has the option of manually selecting a wheel mouse (later, if
need be), why would this take forever?

It’s not trivial. It’s just way less non-trivial than detecting a wheel
mouse without buggering up somebodies non-wheel mouse.
