The “su” command suddenly stopped working on one of my Qnx systems; instead
of prompting me for the root password it immediately returns the text “su:
Sorry” as soon as I hit . I’ve tried changing the root password and
deleting and re-entering all the account passwords, with no apparent effect.
I don’t know how I caused this, but it sure is a nuisance
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
TIA,
Dan Garber

Can you post the “ls -l” for /bin/su – maybe it lost the setuid bit?
It should look something like:
-rwsrwxr-x 1 root wheel 24345 Sep 17 1996 //1/bin/su
