To be brief, my company purchased a computer video system from AXICOM in
1997. It contains two servers running QNX4.25. AXICOM has since then gone
out of business without warning in 1998. We made all attempts to obtain our
user manuals and passwords for the system before closing; however, they
split within a day! We have user passwords into the system and maintained
the system until now. Upon losing a raid array on the system, the only way
to access the reinitialization of the array is to run a driver program
logged in as superuser in root.
I am looking for 1.) anyone who has run across or possibly worked for
AXICOM that might help us.
2.) a way to download QNX4.25(since they did not
provide us any OS software or manuals) or I might have to buy the full
version!
3.) a boot disk that I can download so that I can
follow the support directions for obtaining a lost root password.
Thanks

You probably need to contact QSSL directly about this.

boot linux (free) or RTP (free?), mount the QNX4 disk partition,
do whatever you want with /etc/passwd, /etc/shadow…

Hello
If you can boot from DOS floppy disc:
Run Norton Disk Editor from Floppy
Open Hard Disk as Hex and you have 2 possibilites:
- edit a file: sysinit.xxx
As the variant, is possible without logging to start the text editor on
certain console…
After QNX starting - edit passwd file
2 edit a file: passwd
In the second case, we edit a file passwd.
You must find next string: root:x:, and replace this string
with: root::
Best regards,
