What limits the number of files open with vedit

Hi.

What limits the number of files that can be open with vedit? How can I
increase this?

The windows version implies there is a limit of 32 (ver. 5.2) and a
quick QNX test stopped at 32.

Memory may also be a consideration. Older versions allowed you to limit
memory usage with -s , e.g. vedit -s20 made a big difference. Newer
versions still report the option as available, but don’t seem to
respond to it the way I recall.
