If you got just an upgrade CD the license is NOT included on the CD.
E.g.
from root dir.
Hi Marcin!
I ran license utility as required.
I installed a brand new 2111 MB HD. Reformated and partitioned it. Then I
installed QNX 4.24 OS onto this HD with no problems reported.
Then I attempted to upgrade the OS from 4.24 to 4.25. I updated time/date on the
computer system accordingly. I ran install software. The list of products
available for upgrade/install shows Watcom C (10.0) and Watcom C++ compilers
marked as a white squares in a black frames. However, the QNX4.25 OS 4.25E
1998/11/13 24.62MB is showing as a red square in a black frame.
I have a TCP/IP licence from another QNX machine. With this license posted in the
.license I was able to upgrade TCP/IP as well.
With every product upgrade the appropriate logo is being shown in the left hand
window. Yet, QNX 4.25 is the only product which did not responded to upgrade check
at all. I am very confident that I am facing some sort of problem related to QNX
4.25 upgrade license. I called Paul Boston and he assured me that license should
be included on the upgrade CD. However, all the evedences suggest that QNX4.25 is
unavailable for upgrade.
I am in the state of profound frustration. In my 27 year career I had had many
frustrations with many products. But the total lack of consistensy in QNX OS
atterly nuliffies all my previous experience I gained working with several
Operating Systems thus making intuitive approaches which engineers usually take in
handling such kind of problems virtually futile. Under no circumstances I would be
able to believe that other software/telecommunication engineers had formed an
impression regarding QNX OS different from mine. You should pay us for debugging
your product.

Hello Marcin!
Hello Sergei,
less /etc/version/qnx reads as follow:
QNX Software Systems Ltd. QNX 2.24, release date 05-Sept-97
I have Product Suite May 2001 upgrade CD and Watcom C/C++ floppy. Anly
Watcom was successfully upgraded. Version of the QNX though remains
unmodified. In the product list window of the upgrade software the OS
QNX4.25 is marked as a red square, implying that the OS upgrade is not
available. Yet, sales person asured me that OS uprade takes place by default
once you run upgrade software. A number of attempts have been made to run
upgrade with unvatiable results.
Try running ‘license -r’ before upgrading. Also make sure that your system’s
date is updated (the archive must be older). If that doesn’t work, can you
post ‘licinfo -a’.

I was hoping that the above-8GBHD-partitioning problem will be solved once I
upgrade my OS from 4.24 to 4.25.

Hi!
MAXTOR 33073H3 hardrive 16383 CYLINDERS 16 heads and 63 sectors 30.7GB
has been partitioned and formated on Windows’98 machine and then
installed on QNX machine as /dev/hd1. QNZ fdisk utility shows at row #4:
qnx (77) 0 3734 3735 60002712 29298 MB. Yet only 8GB are accessible
during formating.
I have purchased QNX4.25 upgrade CD and successfuly installed Watcom
C/C++
compilers. However, welcome message at the setup shows Welcome to
QNX4.22.
What’s wrong with upgrade software?
Did you only installed Watcom? (it looks like you didn’t upgrade your OS
to
4.25). What do you see when you do ‘less /etc/version/qnx’?
What can I do to install 30GB har-drive?
