X windows /etc/config/X11/Xconfig.xx corrupted file

Has anyone ever tried to restore the /etc/config/X11/Xconfig.xx X
windows file?
When trying to cat the file, error “corrupted file system” appears.
Do you have to reinstall X windows???

thanks!!!

I don’t think that is an X problem but a problem with your disk or the way you
use it. Corruption often occurs if power is removed while open files still
exist. You should shut down using the “shutdown” tool or ctrl-alt-shift-del.

I have however seen corruption occur EVEN when shutting down correctly.

Try using chkfsys to mend the file system. This is best used just after
booting, with no open files (eg try starting in console mode, not X).

You should be able to copy a backup into /etc/config/X11/ with no problem or
use configX to recreate it.
