Is this resurrecting the defunct Watcom11 beta for QNX4?

My .02 cents.

I doubt this will be supported by QNX.
At this time the only binary available is Windows. The release
seems to be a minor patch to the already existing 11.0. I doubt
there anything new as far a C++ support is concern when compare
the 11.0 beta that was out for QNX4.

I guess the Windows binary can be used to build QNX4 executable,
just as it was possible with version 10.

Can QSSL comment this announcement?

I doubt this will be supported by QNX.

there anything new as far a C++ support is concern when compare
the 11.0 beta that was out for QNX4.

Compared to 11.0 beta there isn’t a whole lot new for C++ support but there
are several bug fixes and compared to 10.6 I think the C++ support is
better.

My question is this: since there was a Watcom 11.0 beta for QNX4 why not dig
up that stuff and work with OpenWatcom to launch an 11.0C for QNX4. I think
OpenWatcom would welcome this and I think most of the QNX4 developers would
welcome this. This then starts a relationship between QSSL and OpenWatcom.
From this there might be more of a chance to get an x86 OpenWatcom compiler
for QNX6 (offer a choice to QNX6 x86 developers, a good thing from what I
hear).

I guess the Windows binary can be used to build QNX4 executable,
just as it was possible with version 10.

The 10.6 Windows based version can build QNX4 executables. This is in fact
how we develop. I would not use the 11.x Windows based version however
unless I have 11.x QNX4 libraries to link against. Who knows what
versionitis you might get into.

Can QSSL comment this announcement?

I guess QSSL has commented in a way … see:
http://www.qnx.com/products/os/qnx4support.html

I am just having trouble accepting the word. From our project I see a real
benefit that I feel could be obtainable without a LOT of effort. I imagine
QSSL sees the benefit too but also sees the $$cost. I think a new version of
the compiler could help QSSL relations with a QNX4 community that is growing
dis-impressed with the new QSSL. If I were on QNX6 this may be different but
this is subject for a another post.

How well this compiler supports QNX4?
