We are trying to connect a Windows NT 4.0 client to a QNX 4.25 samba
server (version 2.0.4.
We have Samba configurated and running on the QNX 4 machine. We can
connect and map a drive from Windows 95. But, when we try the same
thing on Windows NT we get a “System error 5 - access denied”
Here is what we have done. On the Windows NT computer we start a DOS
command and enter a “net view server”. That is when we get the error.
This error come immediately.
Anybody got an idea??
Thanks,
Larry

Have you cleared out the FAQ that SP3 (and after) uses encrypted password?
Solution:
use plaintext password
update Samba to use DES crypt (illegal in some countries)
use other NT Server for authentication

Thanks for the response “Kabe”. The only problem is that I don’t understand
the message.
I have allowed blank passwords. Remember the BT 4.0 computers fail to “login
with a permission denial”. The Win95 machines login with out a problem.
Thanks

That tends to point to an authentication problem (ie. plain text passwords).
What version of Windows 95 are you using?
