COMPAQ armada e500 intel 82559 chipset networking problem?

Hello all,

I have a COMPAQ Armada E500 laptop with an INTEL 825579 chipset mini
ethernet adaptor in it. We had some trouble setting up a QNX network with it
as node2 in a 2 node network but got it going. After updating to 4.25 I have
found it impossible to get it to talk to anything let alone another qnx
node. I have tried a number of different versions of the Net.ether82557
driver all of which produce different undesirable effects. In summary:

Net.ether82557
Date size comment
July 1998 39314 version 4.24B but won’t communicate out the
port
Sept 1999 41824 reports that it can’t locate an adaptor
Feb 2000 48575 reports a bus error and exits
Jan 2001 49194 v 4.25D I believe. wants to load
as -p0 -i255 -l1 usually generates a send() error in Net and can bring the
system down.

Yes the cable is OK. Its a network cable with a swap for direct connecting
two computers.

I have tried using every option -p -i -m -l etc and no options (ie
Net.ether82557 &) with no success.

I have added “ramtrap add” to the sysinit to make sure that the adaptor
isn’t straddling some bit of memory that isn’t found by qnx.

Oh and yes the adaptor works. It works fine under windows 98 and also under
qnx RTP loaded on the self same laptop!

Anybody got any ideas or suggestions
