PHINSTALL, modules & licenses

I used the Product Suite CD and Bootable license floppy in an attempt to
install the TCP/IP Socklet module and Utilities module.

I was presented with modules already installed (QNX 4.24) and what I could
install (QNX 4.25 and TCP/IP run time files).

I assumed the TCP/IP run time files were the modules I wanted and installed
them.

I found NO prompt for license and find that Socklet has NOT been installed.

I attempted to run PHINSTALL from the CD itself. Same scenerio as above.

Does anyone have any idea on how to install these modules?

They are, the only other modules is the TCP/IP toolkit which is used for
development.

Is Socket, telnet, ftp etc available - It might be that the install didn’t
occur/succeed. Take a look for a binary call Tcpip, AFAIK we don’t ship
TCP/IP 5.0, we only offer it as an upgrade.

When you re-enter the installation screen, does it indicate that the modules
are installed?

try typing at the prompt > which Socklet

should return /usr/ucb/Socklet

If the installer didn’t prompt you for a license then you already have
one installed.

Does the installer show that tcpip is installed?

Um… persistance mainly.

Actually it was mainly lack of experience on my behalf.
The install only showed TCP/IP run time files and I assumed this meant the
Socklet and Utilities were not installed, whereas they were.

Also license info I found was not clear running
licinfo showed only some modules and looking at the licenses file showed
different - I guess QNX changed the way licenses are held file wise.

Regarding licenses:

There are the old style, which are files that must be installed into
/etc/licenses. And there are new style licenses (they’ve actually been
around for a number of years now). The new style licenses are lines in a
plain text file called /.licenses . This allows licenses to be e-mailed,
etc.
