booting a 1GB drive

Hi,
As a test I was asked to do with the setup my product uses, I copied the
drive image onto a 1GB WD Caviar drive. When I try to boot it, I get 2 dots
“…” and it stops (normally I get 10).

I haven’t done too much, and it’s not really all that important that I get
it working, but I was curious as to what might need to be modified in the
boot image to get it to boot. I have looked at the different boot options
and tried a couple different boot images, but none seemed to do anything
different. Any ideas are appreciated.

TIA,
Ron

Drive image? That usually not a good idea to copy drive image onto HD of
different geometry.

The setup we have is a 300MB QNX partition, and the rest is taken by FAT32.
Using Ghost, we can copy the drive between different geometries easily and
it works pretty well, since Ghost automatically resizes FAT32 to whatever is
available. I’m about to go in by hand and dinit the partition and copy the
contents over manually to see if that will work.

Yeah but it doesn’t know about the QNX partition…
