I am newbie on qnx os. We have a robotic project going on and we decided for
financial reasons to use qnx 4 ( we received it on friday after a month of
dicussion with my professor).
My first problem is: (other will come later. I am sure 
)
I tryed to install QNX 4 on sunday with no result. qnx 4 installed
completely on the VMEbus system but I was unable to reboot the computer even
with windows 2000. everytime, the computer freezed and I had to reboot
manually.
I desinstalled everything and discovered from it an new problem. the SCSI
CD-ROM Drive was not recognized anymore. even windows 2000 boot disk didn’t
recognize it. Right now, I formatted every hard disk partition because it
didn’t want to boot on any operation system. it sounds wierd to me because I
installed windows 2000 , QNX 4 and before QNX 6 with this CD ROM drive and I
don’t understand why it is not recognized anymore.
Do you have any idea how to solve this problem? we have been stuck with this
project for 3 months now and I would like to complete it before the end of
the summer (if possible). I would prefer to stay with my 1 year independent
study.

VME is not easy to set up using QNX, we had to use some special drivers from
the VME manufacturer if I remember correctly. You should try to ask the VME
manufacturer for QNX drivers.

we have the driver for the VME. that why we switched to QNX 4. but every
time I try to install qnx 4,
the installation stops because the computer doesn’t recognize the CD Drive.
I am going next week to change the CD Drive to see if it’s going to be
different.
