QNX in VMware-very slow!

Hi there,

I have installed QNX 6.2.1 on my laptop using the vmware sofware. I could
successfuly install both vmware and QNX but the problem is that the graphic
card doesn’t seem to work that well. everthign runs too slow and screen
updates too slow. I tried to solve this by two given suggestions as below, but they didn’t work out for
me. On the first try, based on this (
openqnx.com/Article182.html) I changed the “devg-vesabios.so”
library to “devg-vesabios.so.bak” ( having no idea why!!) and reboot but
same thing.
I also tried to insatal this driver at
openqnx.com/Article218.html but that’t didn’t help either. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this problem?

Thanks

The reason is so QNX won’t crash vmware during boot up (somehow the running of QNX devg-vesabios.so will “upset” vmware). The newer version of vmware may have already fixed this. If you can install/boot QNX inside vmware without the “renaming” of devg-vesabios.so, then there is no need to do it.

the fact that you are still experiencing slowness means you are probably still running the vga driver rather than the newly installed vmware graphics driver from openqnx.com/Article218.html You can go to “graphics config” or run “pidin ar” to see.
