PCMCIA problem

I am using Pcmcia.generic V425.J on a laptop with a Cirrus Logic CL6729
PCMCIA/PCI bridge. Intermittently the machine will crash with a interrupt
handler faulted console message followed by ‘kernel fault ldt 1e8 fault e+2’

I can force a crash at any time by ejecting a network card (3COM 3CCE589ET)

I am using QNX4.25, the problem occurs if I do or do not use the -3 option
when running the Pcmcia driver (for PD6729 on PCI buses >-33MHz)

Is there a more recent driver that works ?

I got the driver from in 1999 from a UK QNX distributor who are no longer
your distributor. I’ve put up with the problem for quite a while but would
like to sort it out once and for all. Driver details 61060, Sep 27 1999

You should slay the driver before ejecting the card. What version of the
driver are you running? sin ver output would help. How did you get the
version of Pcmcia.generic, as it doesn’t report via sin ver’? An
‘ls -l /bin/Pcmcia.generic’ would also help.

Thanks for the drivers, unfortunately the Net.ether589 can not find the
card. I notice that the IO port must be specified. Can’t find the port
address as pin cis etc… does not give any info at all. Any suggestions ?

Further to last email, the problem is with Pcmcia.generic not Net.ether589
which works fine with the old Pcmcia driver.

I would then suggest that you try the new pccard software on
http://developers.qnx.com
