QNX4 DHCP

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could throw me a few pointers concerning using
DHCP in QNX4.25? I would like to configure a few QNX PCs to use DHCP to “fit
in” better with a Win2K network in the office. The static address pool is
rather busy at present. So far, I haven’t found any software or
configuration FAQs that would give me a start. A pointer to where I could
get the required binaries would be a great help. Any suggestions or links
would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Ronnie Bridges.

Replace your ifconfig en1 xxx statement with dhcp.client
and that should do it. dhcp.client comes with TCP/IP 4.25 and
5.0 (not sure about previous version)

Ah, the version of TCP/IP I have at present is only 4.24, without the
dhcp.client. I’ll wait until I receive the newer version (4.25) next week
before researching this further.

Thanks for your help,
Ronnie

The latest is 5.0 not 4.25.

Oddly, if you look here: http://www.qnx.com/developer/download/updates/qnx4/
it lists TCP/IP ver 4.25 as a separate product from TCP/IP version 5. I
wonder why?

Thanks for your help,
Ronnie

4.25 is said to be available on the May 2001 CD (that’s over a year old),
while
TCP/IP 5.0 is only available via web update.

Go with 5.0. You’ll be glad you did.
