Problem with tape drive

Hello,

I’m using a Hewlett Packard Sure Store DAT 24 tape drive connected to a
Adaptec 2930U SCSI controller card. I’m using QNX 4.25E with Fsys.aha8 SCSI
driver (version 4.24Q Jan 9 2001). The SCSI controller card has nothing else
connected.

It returns with an something like:

path=0 - Adaptec(CHIM)
Target=6 LUN=0 Sequencial - HP CI537A Rev: L812
Cant attach to Fsys Resource Busy

Has anyone else had this configuration. If not does anyone know of a tape
drive (streamer) that works with QNX 4.25E.

Thanks in Advance,
Martin.

We have a similar set up with HP DAT 24 (DDS-3) and Adaptec 2930U SCSI cards on
several PCs and QNX 4.25E. We have not had the problem you described and
everything works fine but other strange random problems were solved by upgrading
the firmware on the DAT drives. Get the HP DAT diagnostic program and firmware
upgrade from the HP Support page, search for the ltt_27_eng.exe program (
Windows or HP-UX only) and the appropriate firmware upgrade ltt_c1537a_l111.frm
for your drive. I used a dual boot machine to run the diagnostic.
Running the diagnostic on the Window side may help solve cabling, termination,
and/or switch settings problems and the new firmware is a big improvement in
drive reliability

Try adding the fsys -N option the the Fsys.aha8scsi command line:
Fsys.aha8scsi fsys -Ntape …

If there were another SCSI driver running, there would be a name
conflict. “tape” is not magic - replace with what suits your fancy.
