We have been trying to get Samba 2.0.4 running on a QNX 4.25 system. That
part is working. Comfirmed by access fromWin95 and Win98 systems. The IT
group is converting the office systems over to Win2K for desktop and WinXP
on notebooks.
When we try accessing Samba from Win2K we get an “Error 5 Access Denied”.
Does this have something to do with the master browser?
Does anyone have any suggestions???

From mine experience samba 2.0.7 from ftp://ftp.qnx.com/usr/free/… works
fine with win9x/NT/2k/XP machines with both workgroup and domain based
networks. Though i had some troubles using qnx4 + samba as a workgroup’s
master browser so from my understanding it’s better to refuse elections at
samba machines at all if you’r using workgroups based network.

If you got a pre-compiled version then you need to check whether it’s
using the old or new crypt() function and whether that matches
your QNX installation. If your login prog is 24060 bytes, then it is
likely the new crypt.
