I have a brand new Inspiron 8200 which will only boot QNX4.25 from floppy,
when booting from hard disk I only get as far as the first 2 dots at boot.
It would appear from looking through this newgroup that I am not the only
person with this problem. This laptop is not a badged Taiwan clone - could
someone from QNX give some assistance in resolving this problem. The QNX
partition is the only one on the drive and is well inside the 1024cylinder
limit - the Dell Phoenix BIOS does not give any information about drive
translation but assume it to be LBA.
Try dinit with the old boot loader as follows:
dinit -b -O -h /dev/hdxxxx
where xxxx is the partition name of your QNX 4 partition.
This worked for me on a Dell desktop machine that had the same problem.

This worked for me also. Plus, I get to see the little arrow spin around
again! Brings back memories…
Thanks very much!
