PPP between QNX4.25E and Win2000

Hello,

I’m using a null modem cable to directly connect a qnx and a windows
machine. Why?
I hoping they can ping each other after starting ppp on both.

I setup the qnx machine to be the server and the windows2000 machine to
be the client.
When the windows machine attempts to login to qnx it errors out, times
out. I can see that the windows machine is sending data over to the qnx
machine through qtalk … but it’s gibberish. I’m guessing that what I’m
trying to do is not possible. Anyone ever try this?

thanks,
delia

This is all from memory, and I only tried it on win98 a long time ago,
so…

First you want to make sure both end agree with the baud rate and so on.
Use qtalk on QNX side and maybe “Hyper Terminal” on windows side to see
what baud rate both agree to.

You want to use “Directe Serial Connect” on Windows side. When you start
as “client” on window side, it send a clear text over the link, reads
“CLIENT”; your QNX box should reply with “CLIENTSERVER” as clear text.
Then windows will start ppp on his end, and your QNX box should start
pppd you your end.

Good luck.
