FTP without ethernet

I am new to QNX. I would like to FTP without ethernet (i.e. usb, serial,
parallel, etc). Is this possible?

Jessica

Sure, if you can run PPP over the interface, you’re all set (serial being
the most common). I’ve never tried to run it over USB (if that even makes
sense given the host/client relation).

Hi Jessica,

Have a look at the TCP/IP User’s Guide section on Setting up a PPP serial
link.

If you just want to transfer files, you may want to take a look at
kermit. The website is:

http://www.columbia.edu/kermit/

There are 2 programs that will run on QNX: ckermit and gkermit.
Ckermit has a lot of features, including a built-in scripting
language. It’s license is somewhat restrictive (i.e., you may have
to pay for it). Gkermit is a simplified, GNU-licensed version of
kermit. It has a much smaller footprint than ckermit.

On the client side, there are a lot of terminal emulators for
Windows that support the kermit protocol, several of which are free.
