Found out about QNX the hard way - HACKED !!

Hi,

I need help.

I’ve known this for over two years, but no one would believe the following
story…

I’ve been missing about 8 megs on my hard drives. I would swear that it was
in ROM, but no one would buy this. Eventually, the FBI took my harddrives
because there was apparently a virtual drive on my computer holding child
porn.

OK. Now it’s 2003. I just bought a new motherboard, ram, and hard drive.
My husband will be doing the same this week.

Why am I writing you?

Because a few moments ago I used a tool called AEFDISK.

It’s great. It’s particularly great because it just showed me that we
weren’t crazy and the hacker got into our systems used QNX. It was an
active partition, which could not be seen by Windows XP, Dos, or any other
systems we use. I’ve even loaded Linux, and it didn’t catch it.

Yep.

So, I need something that will FDISK anything and everything on my pc that
has to do with QNX. And I need to be able to do this without spending
another $500 or $600 dollars.

For over two years I’ve been trying to find out WHY each time we buy a new
harddrive, we still get taken. Now, we’ve gone to bigger and better costs -
replacing 3 motherboards.

I really need to have someone contact me either via this group or email to
explain to me how I can accomplish getting this off. Most people would not
worry about a couple of megs missing, but they have not been through what we
have.

I would REALLY appreciate any help or guidance! Debra

HAHA This must have been posted late, Its way past April fools day.

Hi Debra,

QNX partitions are only type 77, 78 and 79, which all show up under the
linux fdisk utility.
Standard DOS/Windows fdisk will report the partition as NON-DOS partition,
but you can still
delete this. You can likly use the utility that you mentioned in your
original post to remove
the partition.

I highly recommend that if this is a re-occuring problem that you
investigate the security of
your systems and look into purchasing a firewall. An excellent resource for
security would
be the FBI. As you mentioned that they were in previous contact with you,
so you can
explain your situation and I am sure that they would be willing to help.

Best regards…

Erick.

I think it’s an ad for AEFDISK.
