Speed Increase?!?

I don’t know what this is, maybe it is just the alignment of the planets,
but in QNX, I seem to be able to download much faster with my DSL than in
Windows. I have 640/90 ADSL and I average around 65k/sec. But in QNX,
sometimes I would get even up to 200k/sec holding steady (not going down).
Sometimes it even went up. I downloaded a 4 megabyte file in less than 15
seconds. It kind of varies though, sometimes i get my normal speed of
65k/sec, other times it’s way faster. Also, websites load at least 3 times
faster than they do with IE or Netscape in windows. I know my service hasn’t
been upgraded or changed because my serivce provider only offers one speed.
Can anyone explain what is going on here? (i’m not complaing though

It is hard to tell reliably, but Windows TCP stack is not known for
speed. I’ve read somewhere that it is lazy sending TCP ACK. Also,
Windows appears to swap for no apparent reason, while Neutrino seems to
be avoiding swapping (sometimes too damn well avoiding).

That said, speeds like 200Kbytes/sec are hard to explain with line speed
of 640Kbit/sec. With my cable modem I do see speeds of up tp
200Kbytes/sec on Windows, but my line speed is 2-3Mbit/sec.
