photon hangs on crttrap command

I just installed QNX from the free 24mb downloads on the QNX home page. It
hangs while loading photon hangs on crttrap command. It prints this on the
screen.

Running crttrap, please wait…

/usr/photon/bin/dev-iographics -dldevg-s3.so -I0x5333,0x8901

/user/photon/bin/dev-iographics -dldevg -vesabios.so -IO -d0x533,0x8901

\

i looked for that directory but i couldnt find it. is the file missing? what
causes it to hang? how do i fix it? the QNX demo floppy disk loads just
fine. I have to video card but i only use one of them. the on the mother
board is no longer used. the one on the motherboard is s3vx64 or somthing
like that and the PCI graphics card i use is bali 128/3d w/the voodoo rush
chipset and w/6mb ram.

Any ideas?

I get the EXACT same thing, HP pavilion 6330, 96 ram, voodoo3 pci.
An answer would be appreciated.

Hi Ted,

Could you please post the output from:

pci -vvv

Thanks!

My Hp Pavilion 6460 has an on-board ATI chip, so I assume yours does also. Further
I assume you have made your pci Voodoo card the primary display by setting the
BIOS to PCI primary/AGP secondary.
I have another system where I have an ATI Rage 128 AGP as the primary display
and a Voodoo card as secondary ( TV is more important than 3d…sorta ). That
works ok under RTP because the Voodoo driver is ok as secondary, and traps ok as
secondary.
I’m pretty sure the ATI Rage Pro (it’s what’s on my HP) driver and trapper is
not at all happy about being secondary. You could try, as an experiment, reversing
your BIOS setting to give the AGP precedence over PCI. This is more interesting if
you have two monitors, of course. Plus you’ll need to dig out the Photon 1.14
article about dual monitors and play with your trap file a bit…

Thsi probably doesn’t really solve your problem, though, does it…:frowning:

Actually, the 6330 is MUCH lamer. Original video was 4 megs on the mobo, no AGP slot
at all.
Incidentally, trying to put win2000 on this machine was similar–got to a certain
point, and just hangs, the error being that it could not access “a device”.
