ADSL

How can I connect to an Internet services on ADSL.
(I’m with bell canada sympatico high speed edition)

Thanks

Hi Francis,

Please see:

http://support.qnx.com/support/bok/solution.qnx?10118

P.S. There is a router named linksys that you can get in two
models a single port model and a 4 port (10/100 switch) model.

A local Ottawa place sells the 4 port model for about $205.00

Thanks.

Doesn’t the bell high speed stuff come with a “modem” that
you connect to using an Ethernet cable?

If that is the case then unless they use PPPoE it should work.

They do use PPPoE (pain in the rear IMO). Also, be warned that many people
have had problems with the LinkSys and other gateway devices on Sympatic
HSE.

The Dlink support PPPoE.

I’m using a d-link single port router/firewall it works with all
the os’s I’ve tried ( QNX4, QNX6(rtp), Linux, Solaris, WinXX)

It may be due to the sympatheticos configuration.

If the LinkSys router doesn’t work, then which router works well with
sympatico’s HSE?

Also, I have read about using the coyotelinux distribution on an old PC,
acting as a router, but according to their site you need Linux first to
actually create the floppy. Does anyone have the coyote floppy image to use,
or how to work around that? I don’t have Linux.

Thanks,

rsm.

Even if they ARE PPPoE this: > http://www.vortech.net/products.php

Will work.

No posting binaries that big or any at all doesn’t seem to wash hear but,

“** You don’t need linux to make the floppies**”
It seems in an earlier post someone mentioned you need linux to creat the
floppy with authority, but cruz on over to
http://www.vortech.net/products.php

and surprise !! The commercial version is now donation ware,
The download is free the use of the software is free but cash gratuities
are gratfully exepted,
The windows version takes up 4 meg in your c:\program files. folder
and IS a windows program, at one time he charged $$$ for it but now
no longer does. He is mentioning the cost of the 4 gig a day download
bandwidth usage is tempting him to discontinue the windows version
download,
SO scoff it up quick before we’re asking for it in the binaries news groups
!!
I tried it and it created a linux system floppy with nic and modem support
to act as a router.
Now to test the actual router.
You need no hard drive or extravagent amounts of ram,
The default ram_disk is 4096 but can be changed.
Nuff for now , check it out.

Hears a better shortcut to cyote linux
