Install problems... dual boot...

I have Win98 running on an AMDK6-200, 64MB, 6.4GB HD, S3Virge video,
Ensoniq sound card, generic monitor, etc.

The Modem Demo disk works fine. I can boot with this disk, dial into the
net, download updates (telnet), etc.

I installed qnxrtp.exe that I downloaded last week from the QNX site.
Install looked fine, no errors.

When I boot up, I choose QNX instead of Win98, and immediately get black
screen with white cursor in upper-left corner. I uninstalled qnxrtp and
reinstalled it and still get the same thing. I think all my hardware
should work fine, since the DemoDisk worked fine.

Any ideas?

JW

I have the identical situation with an AMD K6-233. I’ve been trying to get
it going since last summer. Evidently no solution yet.

I installed the qnxrtp.exe file from the same CD onto my Intel 133 and it’s
working great! I wish it could detect my ethernet card, but Linksys
apparently doesn’t work with QNX yet. My Ensoniq sound card doesn’t work
either. I’ll have to learn to start buying nothing but name brand
components.

I have the Linux drivers for my Linksys ethernet card and was wondering if
anyone can help me compile them on my QNX machine. I have compiled the C
files many times on other Linux systems, so I’ve jumped through the hoops,
but now I need to make the #include files specifically for QNX. Plus, it
seems like Linksys is becoming popular, it’s at every computer store and
it’s low cost. If we can achieve this, it might help a lot of other people.

Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks,

John

QNX != Linux.

In fact, there is no easy way to make a Linux driver work on QNX.

Which LinkSys card do you have? It is really unfortunate that
LinkSys does rename the card between major chipset changes.
They have been calling the LNE100TX the LNE100TX for years
even though they are nearly incompatible. If you have one of these
the v4.x cards are supported via the devn-tulip.so driver. However,
the previous versions of the card are very broken and are going
to require thier own driver.
