voyager or connection speed problem

The “dialer” log says "connect 57600 yet the Voyager web pages seem to load
at something like 300 baud, extremely slow. I can connect to other web
pages and the data starts to load but it takes forever. I can see that the
status string on the bottom left updates correctly so I don’t think it is a
DNS problem. I had this same problem occur with the Voyager application in
the demo disk. With a full installation of RTP I have the same problem.

Any Ideas?

What initialization string are you sending to the modem? The “connect 57600”
is probably your local connect speed to the modem not the modem’s connect
speed to your ISP. You are connecting at a much slower rate than reported.
Check your manual for AT commands needed to modify the initialization string
so that your modem reports properly. Then you will be better equipped to
diagnose the problem.

I’ve seen this problem when there are excessive errors between modems (CRC,
framing, etc.) usually caused by a misconfiguration or bad base cord.
