Modem stops responding

Anyone else having problems with their modem responce? My dialup connection works for about 5-10 minutes, and then suddenly it stops responding. If I disconnect and try to reconnect, the dialer tells me that /dev/ser1 (where my modem is) no longer exsists. If I completely reboot my machine it reappears, and I can reconnect…but only to experience the same problem again.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Quick fix, to avoid the necessity of reboot: slay and reload. This is
what I have to do when callwaiting bumps my modem off. First make sure you
know what args are used for loading ser8250 (can be found with ‘ps’), then
‘slay devc-8250’ (wait, it’s devc, right?) then reload it (execute it just
as you found it in ‘ps’). I just made a ‘resmdm’ script and put it in ~/bin
… but this is temporary. Not that I can help you any further, but what
kind of modem do you have?

Im having similar problem…
My modem is Microcom Deskporte 56K voice. When I boot to QNX, my modem goes
to Data Terminal Ready status (which means, that port is open) and therefore
dialer cannot initialize modem (which is actually already initialized). How
can I close (hang-up) port to make modem available for dialer?
I tried slay devc-ser8250 and reinitialize it
(devc-ser8250 -u1 -f -b115200), but it didnt help.

Thanks for any help.
