slooooow!

I’m using QNXrtp with a pentium @ 233, 32MB ram, patch B
I’ve installed Abiword 7.14 and it run really slow!
On the same machine in a linux partition I’ve installed Abiword 7.14 running under BlackBox GUI. Abiword under linux-blackbox is much more responsive.

Question: Is this ok?, or I’ve missconfigured something on qrtp?

Alberto

Looks like you’re tight on RAM. One area QNX currently sucks at is virtual
memory. This will be improved but for now you wanna get 128Mb if you feel
‘need for speed’.

Alberto,

My answer to this is that no it is not OK =;-) Igor is correct
however is his assessment that memory matters. Unfortunately
the AbiWord guys are mostly running on Linux where the issues
of memory usage and re-use of allocated objects does not come
into play. I’ve been slowly making in-roads but it is slow
going fighting against the current.

Thanks for using AbiWord.

Thanks, very much.

Unfortunatly that could be dificult because my machine need 72 pin simms, and is very difficult to get simms greater than 16mb (I have only 4 simm slots) at least is in my town.
