I need to load RTP for school, but when I load it (under crappy windows
ME) my keyboard and mouse don’t work, and my video card is crap.

any ideas

I guess that I get to be the one to say: “can you please supply even an
infinitessimal amount of detail about the hardware that is not
working?”

There is no point in asking for technical support without supplying
technical detail in abundance. Please try again.

I did: this is my second cry for help… my first post was May 26, 2001
with no reply in that case maybe I offered to much info so i thought i’d
shrink it down a bit. Here is the original message. If anyone can help
i would really appreciate it. And when i install patch B I have the same
result.

Subject: Windows Me troubles

I was wondering if anyone can help me. I have looked for more
information on the topic but am having trouble finding any.

I am running my computer on the worst OS ever made: Windows ME
Its a PII 128MB ram 40gig HD

My questions are:

  1. I just installed QNX realtime platform v6 and when it is starting up
(off the boot disk I created) if will say that: reserve RMEM failed
Is this a problem? I saw in the help file that it may not be able to map
my memory in some instances. Is that what is happeneing, how do I solve
    it?

  2. When I finally get into QNX the video is terrible (poor resolution),
my keyboard doesn’t work, my mouse doesn’t work. My keybopard is a
standard keyboard, my video card is an ATI 3DRage Pro, and my mouse is a
    logitech 3 button mouse.
I tried looking for possible hardware updates, but I couldn’t find
anything…am I looking at the right place?

can anyopne help me?

Thanks
Neven

I don’t know this one, anybody else?

I have used the ATI 3D Rage Pro with all versions of QNX6, so it
should work for you. The initial video resolution is 640x480x16,
which you set to something sane once you have Photon and the mouse
working. The keyboard is probably not the culprit, which leaves the
mouse as the most likely suspect for no keyboard/mouse. The keyboard
and mouse use the same input driver, so if one fails, the other might
also fail. Try replacing the mouse with something (ugh) Microsoftian
and see if you can get it to work. Once you have a mouse working you
should be able to set your resolution to something sane. If your
Logitech mouse came with a serial adapter, try using that as well.

Cheers,
Andrew

I don’t either. But I have gotten these RMEM failed errors on virtually
every CPU I have tried to install RPT on.

I believe that in starting up it is just testing for different hardware and
reporting failures. But that’s just a guess. I think the errors can
just be ignored but most of RTP is still boggleing my mind.

Patch B should remove this message from bootup. Search
http://qdn.qnx.com and ye shall find.

I’ve tried it all with no results. I think it is Windows ME… I found
ONE resource on installing QNXRTP on a partitioned drive but i’m having
trouble deciphering the last line… anyone know what it means? i can’t
find boot.ini any where on my computer…
I found a win98se boot disk at www.bootdisk.com, and i have the
partitioned drive, (4.7G FAT32 - within the first 8.4G) now how do i put
it all together. is there ANY step by step out there for installing
QNXRTP under a Windows ME partition???

heres the resource from qnx:

Q: We are unable to install the QNX RTP with Windows Millenium. It does
not use the config.sys file so the menu to boot into
QRTP is not presented.

A: Windows Millenium doesn’t have DOS in the classical sense - and
therefore does not use the config.sys file.
To work around this, try creating a Windows 98 boot diskette, create
a new partition big enough for the QRTP and move the files
across. Then do a “sys” on it, set it up in boot.ini and run it from
there.

???

Thanks,
Nev
