I’ve tried using the ‘debug’ feature in other programs (not phdialer,
tho) before, and nothing ever shows up in syslog. In fact, I don’t even
/have/ a ‘syslog’ file. syslogd, syslog.conf (I think), a couple include
files… That’s it. ‘ps’ doesn’t show syslogd, but shows slogger (which I
figured encompassed syslogd among others). Am I missing something?

Hi Dave,
The log shows that local pppd haven’t received any inbound packet.
It looks like either the other side refused to receive anything,
or dialer closed link.
If you can run “phdialer -d”, and get the syslog, we will be able
to have more information to determine what happened.

Hi there,
I’ve connected a hardware modem to ser1 and I can get it to succesfully
dial
up my ISP connection, which would suggest the hardware side now all
works.
However when phdailer tries to connect to my ISP it fails before the
connection is properly up and running, what follows is what is displayed
in
the terminal window.
connect 45333
Link established
Negotiating PPP connnection
pppd[745498-1]:pppd 2.3.5 started by root, uid 100
pppd started
pppd[745498-1]:using interface ppp0
pppd[745498-1]:connect: ppp0 <–> /dev/ser1
pppd[745498-1]:LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests
pppd[745498-1]:connection terminated
connection terminated
pppd connection closed
I think my ISP uses a PAP/CHAP login, when using an interactive login
there
is no promt for a login in name or password, I have tried both settings
but
both have the same result.
The ISP connection I use works fine with Windows although I don’t know
what
windows is doing to make it work, it dosen’t require a specific username
or
password.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Davie,
The first thing you should do is get connected to the internet so you
can
download the latest
patchs through the package manager. If your modem is a hardware modem
(not a WIN modem) then you simply
have to setup up your Dial-up connection through phlip (Network cfg).
You
can then use phdialer to
connect to the internet. Installing Patch B will most likely address
all
the error messages at boot
time. Consult the QNX Hardware Support page for information on
supported
hardware.

This is a problem as package manager cannot connect to either the WWW

else.
Any help with getting the CD-ROM working would be much appreciated.
