i can't get .mp3 to work

please help, the mp3 files don’t seem to work on my PC under RTP
I’ve all the patches installed.
someone told me there was a plugin to make it work.
So could someone tell me where I have to download it?

Hello Pascal,

I listen a music in mp3 format without any plug-ins. And phplay works
correct with different file formats (stereo, joint stereo, variable bit
rate etc.). Are you sure you have correct sound blaster settings? Play
around your settings (mixer, volume control). I had too low volume in my SB
Live by default.

when I launch a midi or wav file it’s working well, but the mp3 are crashing
the player.
So it’s not a setting problem
maybe a problem with the configuration of my sound card.
I’ve got Soundblaster compatible card.
