Cannot get modem to connect...

I use AT&T Worldnet…and this connection works fine on both Win2k and BeOS,
but when I try to connect with QNX it connects and tries to login but
disconnects with a Fatal Signal 11 error. Login name, password etc are all
correct but I just cannot get it to connect. Maybe I am missing something
that I have not seen before? First day using QNX after a two day download
of the ISO with a modem. I am probably crazy. But…any help would be
appreciated.

Hello,

Take a look at the following knowledge base.

Not sure if it makes a difference…but I am not using PPPoE. Using PPPd as
this is a dialup connection.

I have the exact same problem too. It seems like pppd doesn’t do PAP/CHAP
authentification properly. Try manual (or ‘interactive’, as phdialer calls
it) login. It’s a bit old-fashioned but it works for me.

I just hope I can remember how to do everything. It has been years since I
have done it manually. Call me lazy…

Finally figured it out.
For anybody else who needs it.
Thank Xiaodan…

Don’t download the file as a Text file…

  1. be root.

  2. Download http://staff.qnx.com/~xtang/repository/pppd

  3. copy it to /usr/sbin/

  4. chmod a+x,u+s /usr/sbin/pppd

  5. chown root.bin /usr/sbin/pppd

-xtang
