QNX ISO with Tekram DC-390U won't boot

Hi,

I have decided to give QNX RTP 6.1.0 a try, so I downloaded the iso, checked
that the
MD5 checksum was correct, and burned the image using Nero (latest version).
Nero detected
that the ISO was bootable, by the way.

I have a slightly peculiar setup when it comes to storage.
I have a SCSI Tekram DC-390U card (ncr5c875 chip) on which are 2 hard disks
(2 gigs and 1 gig) and a Yamaha CD-Rom. I also have a 2 gigs seagate EIDE
hard disk
as masteron the secondary controller of the motherboard.

The ISO won’t boot in the CD-Rom (“Operating System Not Found” BIOS message
because
the disks were frormatted for the install). I have read in the SCSI
controller manual that it will
only boot devices which have 512 bytes/sector as a block size. Could it be
that the ISO is burned
differently, or does it have no bearing? I’m pretty sure the ISO integrity
was good when I burned it,
and I selected a low speed (4X) to ensure a flawless image.

Is there a solution to this? Can I use a floppy for the kernel/root loading,
and then switch to the
CD for package installation (I haven’t seen the option anywhere)?

Also, I tested the iso in my windows machine, and it works (gonna test if it
boots soon). I made the
boot floppy in hopes that it would do the job but it crashes in an odd way.
When I don’t disable “detect
other storage devices besides EIDE” (or close, I don’t rememeber the exact
term), it crashes right
after detecting my SCSI card by repeatedly writing “Too Much Data SCRATCHA0
0 SFBR 0 IntType 11”…
And it won’t allow me to continue the install anyways when it doesn’t
crash…

That’s it! If you can make something out of this, please help! Thanks in
advance,

Thibaut

Sorry about that, I’m not used to newsgroups at all, and when I found out
about it (yes, I read previous messages!, it was a tad too late.
The updates for this thread will be in qdn.public.qnxrtp.installation, the
most appropriate place for this I guess.
