Has anyone had success with ADSL (specifically Sympatico). Am running 6.1
patch A with an RTL8139 and tried everything I could , and the log just
keeps saying conecting to server with no success. Can anyone provide
detailed method for configuration? I have no problems connecting via modem.
I have no problem with my ADSL connection using 6.1. There are
two different situations that you might have to deal with.
- Fixed IP
This is what I use. To get this working right you need to do the
following:
A) set your IP address correctly
B) set the default route to your DSL router or bridge
C) setup the DNS servers IP’s correctly
Once you think you have this right, here’s the steps I take to
debug.
- ping your own IP
- ping your router/bridge’s IP
- ping a well known name such as yahoo.com or www.qnx.com
\ - DHCP
I think that this might be the default with 6.1. I think all
you need to know for this to work is your router/bridge’s IP.
DHCP should setup the rest for you.
