How to read the man pages under RTP ?

Sorry for that but I already send a similar question… As usually, I got
an answer very quickly (thanks to you all…) but I’m still in trouble. I
guess this one property of being an new user…

The answerd I got said that in order to read the man pages on RTP I could
download one of the package available on the “port” section at
developpers.qnx.com. Cool, I got the compressed file, install, compile and
make install but I still cannot open any man pages. Man emit error message
at the beginning.

Now going back to the port section I no longer see the man.gzip file…

What can I do ? Is there any zip or package I could use ? How people are
reading the man pages under RTP ?

Please, let me know, Philippe

Hi Philippe,

I haven’t heard of the man pages under QNX, but perhaps there are
and I just haven’t heard about them. If you need help on a driver
or a utility you can type:

‘use {utility}’

From the prompt. If you are running Photon (Micro GUI), all the help docs
are in HTML format so you can quickly see them.

Hope this helps.

Erick.

There is Netbsd man for x86 1.0 available from the QNX’s web repository.

I had the error message “nroff not found” from Midnight Commander. I download and install the next
files:
netbsd-man-core-1.0-x86.qpk
netbsd-man-core-1.0-x86.qpm
netbsd-man-core-1.0.qpk
netbsd-man-core-1.0.qpm

Now I have man utility. But “man man” cause the same error. Where is nroff?

Thanks in advance,
Eduard.

Install the groff packages

Thank you, Colin. I’ve downloaded groff and I’ll install it. My problem is my QNX box without any
net. Why this package was not mentioned in netbsd-man…qpm as required package? Maybe it is not
required for package installer (then I don’t understand the great idea of manifest files), but it
would clarify my mind about what I need to download

Thank you again,
Best regards.
Eduard.
