qdn web site

Hello QSSL,

I cannot reach QDN web site for the last some weeks. I only can reach
http://packages.qnx.com/
http://developers.qnx.com/
Traceroute for qdn.qnx.com (or get.qnx.com) says replies time-out after router.qnx.com. Is not it
public anymore? Just now I reach QDN web site through anonymous proxi. What have I done wrong?

Thank you.
Eduard.

Hi Adam,
My IE (and lynx) get “Connection time out” error from Squid of my ISP (80.77.32.229). It is
extremely unlike to cache effect. I saw the site is up through anonymous proxy . I can reach
developers.qnx.com, but I cannot see “Knowledge Base”, for example. Any other suggestion?
Thanks,
Eduard.

Trace route to qdn.qnx.com will not work (same as pinging qdn.qnx.com). But
the site is up and has been for quite a while. Perhaps you need to flush
your proxy out.

Perhaps there is a bottle neck further upstream, preventing Squid from
retrieving the page. You should talk to your ISP about this problem, to
resolve it faster.

Hello again,

I have found the bottle neck: your web server (or firewall) does not like IP address of my proxy.
Where does the blame lie? What have I done wrong? What has my ISP done wrong? Is not QDN web site
public for all people anymore? My ISP is vostok.net, I live in Kharkov, Ukraine. Thanks.

Best regards,
Eduard.

I also cannot reach the server from the @home network in the states. I get
no DNS name issues with www.qnx.com and qdn.qnx.com. I also cannot tracert
from home. At work from stsci.edu everything is fine.

There are no problems with name resolving under my circumstances. I can reach the site through any
proxy in other subnet. My ISP told “Access denied for that site”. I see proxy has not get back http
packets. Nslookup at http://www.name-space.com/search/ gets true IP address for qdn.qnx.com and
for vostok.net.

Best regards.
Eduard.

Is it possible that QNX’s ISP has block lists, and your ISP has been put
into DNS blocklists?
(Because somebody, somewhere thinks that your ISP supports spammers?)

This tends to indicate the nameserver is not making the query properly up
the food chain. One thing to try is to use a different nameserver. How are
you posting to this newsgroup? you tend to require access to inn.qnx.com,
which means somehow you’re resolving some of the subdomains.

Check out http://www.name-space.com/search/ and put in qnx.com in the
nslookup field. If you get an IP address, then name resolution is
happening.

Talk to your local ISP for help.

I’m posting from work where the nameservers are translating all your sites
correctly. I can traceroute to router.qnx.com (209.226.137.126) but no
further. I assume you have the packets blocked beyond that point.

From home on the @home network the www.qnx.com and qdn.qnx.com do not
translate to addresses from the @home namesevers. support.qnx.com does
translate but I guess that server no longer exists. I can’t ping it from
anywhere.

I will try to contact someone in the @home network. (May the force be with
me.) Sigh…

qdn.qnx.com is the same as support.qnx.com
[209.226.137.93]
It stays third after router.qnx.com. It works perfectly, but not for me ;-(
(or I should use other proxy, exactly that’s I’m doing now)

I can reach quics.qnx.com (“developers stuff”), this site is a second after router
[209.226.137.126], but cannot reach get.qnx.com (third too in tracert table)

Eduard.

I can’t ping it from
anywhere.

I will try to contact someone in the @home network. (May the force be with
me.) Sigh…

I have the following related problem.

When I use my analog modem, no problems going to www.qnx.com an qdn.qnx.com.
When I’m using my Alcatel ADSL modem (Planet Internet account in the
Netherlands) I cannot reach www.qnx.com and qdn.qnx.com. I also have
problems reaching www.qnxstart.com , www.qnx.fr, www.qnx.jp. Going to
www.qnx.de is no problem. I don’t know what is happening, do you??

Hi Freddy,

I still have the problem. Can you reach developers.qnx.com? It’s only one site I can reach ;-(.
I’ve been answered the problem may be related to virtual hosted sites… But I don’t see any
progress…

Cheers,
Eduard.

These are issues that you need to talk to you ISP about. They are the best
resource for helping you diagnose your connectivity issues. The best bet
would be to have your ISP contact our IS (ismanager@qnx.com) department - so
they both work together to figure it out.

-Adam

Can we contact this IS manager directly because ISP’s are not very helpfull.
I think these issues (Freddy and Eduard) are IP/DNS/Firewall related

Freddy

Can you resolve the DNS entry qnx.com? If not, then you have no choice
except to ask your ISP as we can’t control their DNS servers. As an
experiment, you can try to find alternative DNS servers to and see if the
problem persists. The email address is from the whois on the domain name,
so it is public.

-Adam

Hi Adam,

Thanks for your participation. You forwarded this thread to Duane last month, it was really useful
thing. A mystery was solved yesterday. I agree Freddy is right - the ISP’s are helpless in this
case. Thank you all.

Eduard.
