qnxrtp install

i have a p3-750 laptop with win2k.
partition 1 has ntfs and
partition 2 has fat32

ive installed qnx on d: and created a boot disk.

when i but the system starts detecting gfx-card.

it finds ati rage128.

the problem is that the mouse doesnt work and the system is REALLY slow.
when i type on the keyboard i have to wait about 5 seconds between each
character or qnx doesnt register any chars at all.

whats the prob???

Hello Geir,

Could you try the fixed devi-hirun found in the fixes section of
http://developers.qnx.com

Let me know if this solves your problem.

where do i put this file ?

-Geir

should the file be called devi-hirun.txt ?

Hello Geir,

No the file shouldn’t be called devi-hirun.txt it should just be called
‘devi-hirun’. This new file replaces the old on
‘/x86/usr/photon/bin/devi-hirun’

i dont get that far.
i after ive entered user/pass…
nothing happens.
no pterm or anything.

-Geir

When you say that nothing happens do you mean that the system is hung?
After you login try hitting the Caps Lock or Num Lock and see if the
keyboard lights work. If so try hitting the (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Backspace)
to shutdown Photon and then type `shutdown -f´ to see if the system
reboots. If it does then we can eliminate that it might be a input
problem. Let me know the results of the above suggestion.

when i hit Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Backspace (after 10 tries or something)
the photon login just pops up again.
the keyboard driver is REALLY slow.

can i use my xircom 10/100mbit pcmcia ethernet card ?

can i compile my qnx 4.25 /photon 1.13 code in qnxrtp 6 ?
or is qnxrtp6 built on neutrino core ?

You can try booting in safe mode. To do this you hit the space bar when
prompted and then select F1 for safe mode. You then select F3 to set
the flag not to boot into photon. Then you hit enter to continue
booting system. After your system is booted and you are logged in as
root, run ‘crttrap clear’ and then ‘crttrap trap’. After that, run ‘ph’
to start Photon and see if that changes anything.

NOW IT WORKS!!!

can i use my xircom 10/100mbit pcmcia ethernet card ?
This card is supported with QNX 6.1.

hmm…the qnx.com says i should use

io-net -dtulip -ptcpip

but that doesnt work.
i get “no such device”
what should i do ?

i see there is a devn-orinoco.so.
is that for the WLAN-pcmcia card ?

can i compile my qnx 4.25 /photon 1.13 code in qnxrtp 6 ?
or is qnxrtp6 built on neutrino core ?

is it possible for me to compile the qnx 4.25 code on qnx6 as qnx4.25
executable
and then run it on a qnx4.25 system ?

and one other thing.
ive chosen norwegian for language/keyboard, but
the keyboard is still US.

By the way, you might find a few people on IRC who are around if you’re
stuck waiting for a reply all evening, night or day. Just a reminder that
you can log into:

irc.joher.com with an irc program and join #qnx

There is a Photon IRC proram available at: www.joher.com/phirc

This depends on your code. Take a look at the QNX 4 → QNX 6 Migration
Guide found at http://qdn.qnx.com/support/docs/mig4nto/index.html

Yes for, orinoco chipset.

It all depends on how much QNX 4 code you have. If you only have
Photon stuff you should be or

or is qnxrtp6 built on neutrino core ?

QNX6 is neutrino (the neutrino name isn’t much use anymore)

is it possible for me to compile the qnx 4.25 code on qnx6 as qnx4.25

Not to my knowledge.

Would be much simpler to setup a separate partition anyway
