Questions

Hello,

I recently installed QNX RTP and I am extremly happy with the product, but I
have a few questions:

  • How much software is there for QNX? I have found teh QNX downloads
section at Tucows but I wonder if there are any more download sites.

  • How do you transfer QNX software from a Window$ computer onto QNX on a
floppy disk? I currectly have an internal modem amd I cant connect through
QNX (I am buying an external modem soon).

Thankyou very much for your help.

Hello,

I recently installed QNX RTP and I am extremly happy with the product, but I

Yes, they are. Take a look at www.qnxzone.com for start. How much software? It depends which stuff
you want.

  • How do you transfer QNX software from a Window$ computer onto QNX on a
floppy disk? I currectly have an internal modem amd I cant connect through
QNX (I am buying an external modem soon).

I usually write file(s) to floppy(ies) and then write from floppy(ies) to QNX partition. In QNX,
you have to mount floppy drive in order to use it, for example:

mount -t dos /dev/fd0 /fs/fd-dos

You must be root (or SuperUser - command ‘su’) for mounting filesystem. After mounting, you’ll see
your files /fs/fd-dos/. (use ‘cd /fs/fd-dos’ and ‘ls’)

Common archivers are tar and gzip (but there are too many of them). There is tar&gzip for windows,
also there is unrar, unarj etc. for QNXRTP.

If you are not sure how to use the command, just type ‘use commandname’ in terminal.

If you have .qpk&.qpm files, copy them to temporary directory, then install software by adding
repository in Installer (press Add button and fill out the path to the directory). If you have .qpr
file, fill out path and file name in Installer. (.qpr - QNX package repository, so package
installer needs look into the file for manifest and package)

Best regards,
Eduard.

Thankyou very much for your help.
