Keymapping in Emacs 20.7

Just installed emacs 20.7 (thanks to Andrew Thomas), the quirk that I am
facing is that I am unable to enter characters that need the Shift key (eg
! @ # …). Appreciate any pointers.

I was unable to get the relevant info from Google groups…

I am running qnx 6.1.0, using pterm. I access my qnx box using phindows.
However, the ‘problem’ still exists on the console.

Thanks,

Hanif.

I have to confess I’ve never run it in a console. Do you have the same
problem if you run emacs in X-Windows mode withing Photon?

Cheers,
Andrew

I am running it under Photon. When I type emacs for the firs time, the X
windows splash screen comes up followed up the emacs frame.

I just tried with both the X-Windows and the console versions, and I have
no trouble with any shifted characters. The only thing I can think of is
that
this might have to do with a keymap for a non-English keyboard. Do
other X-Windows applications also behave like this?

I had this problem with 6.0. I could not run emacs from within Phindows (I
could not type a number of characters - including underscore). If I ran
emacs on the system console directly from phindows, I had no problems. I
abandoned emacs and switched to jed - many of the same basic features, but
without the hassles.

Good, if you had no problems then hopefully it is a config issue at my
end. I am using a standard US leyout keyboard (Dell). As for other
X-Windows apps - I do not run any. I did use vim/gvim as my editor
and gvim (GUI vim) worked fine. But I suspect that gvim is compiled
as a Photon app.

Any idea where I can investigate the keymap issue on qnx…

Thanks,

Hanif.

I am not ready to give up on emacs yet. I use it on the Windows platform
and well as my other *nix platforms. I am having the problem whether
I run emacs via a phindows on NT using the QNX box console.
Suspecting that it is a config issue…

Hanif.

Starting emacs from a terminal session, using phindows on NT to
connect to the QNX box, I get the following warning messages:

Warning: locale not suported by Xlib, locale set to C
Warning: X locale modifiers not supported, using default
