can you install QNX as a standalone OS?

i just wanted to know if i have to have windows installed first for qnx to
work or if it can be installed as a standalone OS. and can this be done on a
x86?

Hello Cagemonkey,
You could download qnxrtp.iso image, burn CD or you could buy the CD. All you need is this CD, if
your x86 system supports booting from CD-ROM drive. If your system doesn’t support booting from
CD-ROM, you could ask your friends who own Windows system with floppy drive to make bootable floppy
for you (all readme, floppywriter for Windows and image files are placed on the CD).
P.S. 29meg executable for Windows is small QNX installation. If you have Windows and you want to
try QNXRTP it’s just you want to download this small executable instead of 500meg .iso. This small
installation allows you to install QNXRTP into a file on FAT filesystem, so you’ll avoid monkeying
about with the hard drive partitions.
Best regards.

Eduard.

Thanx. Unfortunately, I cannot boot to CD with this system. I guess I’m
installing Windows 98 now…oh well. :sunglasses:
