Playing mpeg videos with Media Player

Hello all… I’m hoping someone can help me out… Everytime I go to
play an mpeg video with Media Player, I get the following message:

Can’t load plugin ‘mpegsystem.so’

But, that plugin is located at /usr/photon/dll/mpegsystem.so

If I try with different video formats (an AVI file saved with the Cinepak
codec), I get similar errors (for example: “Can’t load plugin ‘avi.so’”).

Do I need to set up something on my system? Is it a configuration issue?

Me again.

Thought I’d mention that with my Radeon 8500, if I have “Use Direct
Overlay” selected in the Media Player Options, I just get a window
filled with darkness where there should be a video

Nab http://qnx.wox.org/qnx/libcpp.so.2a.gz and decompress it in /lib.

Are you attempting to play it on a desktop other then the first one?

Nah, you have 9. You just don’t realize it. Try adding World View to
your shelf and/or using CTRL-ALT-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9.

D’oh… I’ll give that a shot when I get home. Sorry, I thought you
were talking about multiple monitors  However, seeing as all I did
this morning was boot into QNX, launch Media Player, and load an mpeg
(without ever touching the keyboard), I don’t think I was on another
desktop.

I tried moving my CRT monitor from the CRT port to the DVI port (using
an adapter), since some things linux directfb on Linux only work on the
DVI port, but that didn’t make any difference.

The strange thing is that when I move the window around, I can see the
blue overlay background following behind the window… Just no video.

Alright, so I confirmed that the video playback stays black even when
I’m on the first desktop.

Any other ideas?

Well, it is probably an issue of the overlays not working properly.

OK, then. What about .avi files ? I’ve also tried libcpp.so.2a.gz and it
won’t work: Can’t load plugin ‘avi.so’ I’m aware of the fact that there
should be some codecs installed, but I don’t know where to find QNX
compatible codecs, because that may be the problem I get the “Can’t load
plugin ‘avi.so’” message. Can something be done ? By the way. The .mpeg
files run very nice, but they get out of sync after a while. I have no ideea
why. I don’t know if this will help, but my machine is not slow:

proc: Intel P4 @ 1.7 GHz
mb: Intel D850GB @ 400 MHz FSB
mem: 256 MB RDRAM PC800
hdd: Maxtor 60 GB @ 7.200 rpm
video: ATI Rage 128 Pro (QNX driver)
sound: CMI8738 (Mike’s 0.82b driver)
mouse: :stuck_out_tongue: Inc. (HAHAHA)

Another thing is that NOT any type of .mpeg will run with Media Player. I’m
also aware that there are more than one .mpeg type, but these are the things
that don’t work properly (or at all).

Igore that error message. There isn’t an avi codec.
