6.2 install problems

I’ve just got myself a new peecee, so thought I would try out 6.2

It’s a L4s8A2 motherboard (http://www.ecsusa.com/products/l4s8a2.html)
using SiS 648 & SiS 963 Chipset with a P4 2.0Ghz.

I tried installing into a separate partition, but it does not detect any
IDE devices.

I then installed under Windows 98, and I can only boot into 6.2 with DMA
disabled. But the mouse (ps/2) is then disabled :frowning: It also doesn’t
recognise my graphics card so only gives me VGA/VESA choices.

I installed 4.5 instead and that is able to detect IDE devices with DMA
enabled, but again doesn’t give me any other options for video apart
from VGA/VESA and I don’t have working access to the onboard NIC, so I
can’t check the repositories for better graphics drivers. The video
card is a AG400 8xAGP card (http://www.ecsusa.com/products/ag400t8.html)

We do not support your video card, so the VGA/VESA drivers
are the best you can get for now. I can’t comment on your
IDE issues, but hopefully someone else can.

Any idea as to why I lose the mouse with DMA disabled?
And why I can’t configure the on board NIC?

Ooops, I mean 6.1 here.

Not sure why the mouse doesn’t work, but if you can boot
into a console and post the full output from:

pci -vvv

I can probably find out what chipsets are used in your board and
find out if they are are supported.

Thanks

Erick

Also when you post the output from pci -vvv make sure its inline and
not an attachment.

Thanks
