Please help with RTP install.

Please. Tell me this is a joke. Just downloaded QNX (the ISO) and spent
ALOT of time and couldn’t get it to run.

I have Win2k so I took a small portion of my drive and made a FAT32
partition. I installed QNX, created the boot floppy and rebooted.
Nothing. Just after the message about detecting EIDE it gives two messages
about building ccb timers or something similar. And then it dies. It just
sits there for many minutes.

So, I decided to resize my extended partition leaving room for a native
install of QNX. I installed it on a 1.13 Gig portion at the end of my drive
in it’s own partition. Same outcome.

My system:

P3 800EB
Asus CUSL2
256M Micron Infineon
Elsa Gladiac Geforce2
Creative SB512
D-LINK DFE-530TX
3COM PCI Modem
IBM 75GXP 30gig
Samsung 32X cdrom
Plextor 12/10/32A burner
Logitech USB mouse.

I also have to say that compared to BeOS the install is not
straightforward. BeOS installed on this machine without a hitch, even
within a logical partition.

Any ideas as to what might be wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Adam.

Wild guess. Do you have anything in you CDROM/Floppy driver? Take them out
and reboot?

I get the feeling that like most other OSes, RTP doesn’t boot from “extended”
partitions. Just a hunch.

Hi,
Did you verify that the Os image is completely below 1024th cylinder. nothing matter for the rest of the installation.

Bye, Alain.

Thanks. It is working. I had to boot in Verbose mode and select " * " to
enable/disable DMA. It said I was enabling DMA by doing this but my
understanding is that DMA is enabled by default. Anyhow, it works.

Thanks again.

This is usually a DMA problem. Try the non-DMA boot.
