ESS audio problem

Here are some observations done during the strive of making phplay (under
Photon/QNXRTP) play some music!

The sound card is stated (by Windows 2000) to be: ESS Maestro PCI Audio
(WDM)
My computer is a Dell Latitude CPx with 256 Mbyte RAM and a 650MHz Intel 686
I’m using QNXRTP as downloaded from www.get.qnx.com on 26th. sept 2000
(I downloaded the CD image and made an installation CD)

----- STARTING THE AUDIO DRIVER -----
#/sbin/deva-solo

This is the driver with the closest match to my soundcard according to qnx
web info.
Is this the correct driver?

----- STARTING THE MediaPlayer ------

phplay -p mpegaudio.so -r file:///usr/birdstep/cdarc/mp3/smooth.mp3

Unable to find mpsettings file
snd_ctl_open error: No such file or directory
Loaded DLL 0x08086dc4 ‘mpegaudio.so’
MvInit() succeeded
snd_pcm_open failed: No such file or directory
snd_ctl_open error: No such file or directory

phplay error dialog: "Player Error: Could not connect to the audio driver.
May not be running.)

----- STARTING THE Mixer ------
#mixer
mixer error dialog: “Mixer Error: Unable to open/read control - No such file
or directory”

------ Checking the PCI status ------
#/usr/sbin/pci

The ESS Solo-1 and ESS Maestro are completely
different.

There are currently no drivers for the ESS Maestro and
Canyon 3D drivers. We have no documentation on these
chipsets. We are interested in supporting these cards, but
it will probably not be in the near future.
