Hi,

This is probably the first time I ever got involved in a newsgroup of any kind
and am amazed at how people are helping each other. I didnt really have any problems
on installation but do have lots of newbie type questions to ask.

Perhaps I or any one lese for that matter could start a QNX_How2_4_Newbies ?

I still would like to add mouse acceleration to a start up file but havent figured
that one out yet . . .

I’m actually reading a lot of newsgroups of all kinds, and this is the one
where people help out most.

I’m behind you on the how_2 group too…

Installing, initializing, customizing, booting, editing the system initialization

Licensing

Working with files, pathnames, directory structure, common utilities, package
filesystem.

Command line interface, line editing, slaying processes, switching consoles,

client, scheduling, phindows, vmail, voyager, custom apps.

Networking
io-net, Qnet, network planning, multiple nics, configuring boot server, setting

tiny stack, full stack, dhcp.

Managing user accounts, mail, news, security, backing up and recovering files.

Character I/O, Printers, terminals

Troubleshooting, getting help, QDN, FAQS, bug-reporting etc…

and the most fun stuff
dvd, multimedia, gaming, third party apps…

phew…

For now you guys are in the right places, see also support.qnx.com for the QDN,
where you will find supported h/w, bug-reporting, QNX Knowledge base, online
docs, tricks and tips, etc…

I know you are busting your… ehh
You are doing a fine job, and when it is all done, I hope I remember to
thank you all for the effort.

But so far, I got all the help I need here, and that’s enough for me!

QSSL will be comming out shortly with a program to handle mouse config from
the desktop

We’re planning to post the outline for the Sys Admin book so you can see if
all the things you need to know are in it. We’ll be updating it
periodically
as sections get filled it. Right now, we’re trying to determine the best
place to post it – stay tuned for details.
