CL-GD6235 bombs RTP - repost

Hi,
trying to start photon 2 with CL-GD6235 (not supported, I know, but I
would be happy to get 640x480 VGA to start) seems to kill RTP totally -
I have to power down. When I run crttrap -VV trap I get the following
(somewhat abbreviated, hard to capture into file because system goes
into lala land):

/usr/photon/bin/devgt-iographics -dldevg-vesabios.so -V
PCI attach failed! (not surprising, this is PC104 computer
so no PCI)
BIOS call Int10 eax=4f00
BIOS call Int10 eax=4f00
BIOS call Int10 eax=4f01
/usr/photon/bin/devgt-iographics -dldevg-cyrix.so -V (cyrix?
could this be the problem?)
BIOS call Int10 eax=4f00

Shutdown[0,0] S/C/F=11/4/2 C/D=ff80b0d4/ff83debc state(c0)= now lock
[0]PID-TID=196625-1? P/T FL=0000000/80000000
“usr/photon/bin/devgt-iographics”
x86 context[ffbf8fd4]:
(lots of numbers)
instruction[ff82f938]
(lots of numbers)
stack[ffbf9000]
(lots of numbers)

Is there any way I can specify the generic VGA driver so it doesn’t
bomb? Thanks for your help.

We’ll look into what the cyrix trapper is doing that could make the
system crash. In the meantime, you should able to get going
in VGA mode, by editing /etc/system/config/graphics-traplist,
deleting any lines in this file, and then running “crttrap trap”.

Thanks for your response. My /etc/system directory contains the following:

directories: enum, package, trap
files: sysinit

I searched through these and could not find the file you are referring to.
Also tried to find it (using “find”) without any luck. Any suggestions?

That doesn’t look good… I’m guessing the filesystem got corrupted when
your machine crashed. You probably want to back up any files you’ve
been working on, then try running chkfsys to try to recover.

After running chkfsys, you could try re-creating the /etc/system/config
directory, then rebooting.

I searched through these and could not find the file you are referring to.

I reinstalled rtp and the file you are referring to is still not there. However,
I decided to try something and deleted the contents of /etc/system/trap/graphics,
then ph -s seemed to do ok (even said it was reverting to vga driver), but I
wasn’t able to get into photon due to lack of memory. I was sort of suspecting
this might happen, as this is a AMD 486-133 with only 8 MB ram (it is a Jumptec
superMops pro). I have ordered more ram to bring it up to 20 MB but probably
won’t get it for 2-3 weeks. So here is the question: is there any way I can
reconfigure the photon startup file (which I know nothing about at this point) so
that it will load only a minimum configuration? I just want to see if my
application will run on this target and start hardware specific development.
Thanks.
