Bash & helpviewer

Hi,

I just downloaded, compiled and installed ‘bash’ to replace ‘sh’.
Bash seems to work OK but now the helpviewer doesn’t find its
help pages. When I switch back to sh (by modifying /etc/passwd)
the helpviewer works again. Any ideas?

Hi… The version of helpviewer you have is looking for the following environment variables:
SYSTEM and PROCESSOR. The first should have the value “nto” and the second should have the value “x86”.
It uses these strings to find the location of the vserver.file to launch.
I guess your bash has a problem with exporting these env. var. to the application. Maybe there is a general problem with all env. var., and in this case you might want to look into it.
The next version of helpviewer will not rely on these env. var. anymore.

HEY good tip…!
is it the same for the “server not found” error on Voyager, when using bash
as the main shell ???
