cannot ping other hosts(local or remote)

Hey,everyone:
I’ve one problem that bothered me for days last week. I’ve newly installed
RTP on my PC and using a NE2000-compatible card now.
First time, I cannot detect my net-card.I’ve found solutions from QDN like"
slay io-net…etc" and surely I got my card showned in Phlip tags.
Then, I’m sure I set right parameters both in 'network tag’and other tag,
like DNS, Gateway( both are the same host),netmask and my own IP address.
(NOte: I runned a proxy server for my LAN,so I set DNS,Gateway to this
proxy ).
Now,I tried to ping my proxy server and failed. And when I tried again to use
Voyager(set right proxy connection), it also failed " cannot connect to
remote hosts".

so ,here I want to ask for help on this matter!!!

Hi Tsang,

Can you ping localhost? or 127.1? When you ping, do you ping the hostname
or the IP address? What card is in your system? (chipset).

Thanks.

Erick.

Erick, thanks for reply first.
I can ping my localhost and when do my pinging, I used IP address, such as
“ping 100.0.0.1”( note: 100.0.0.1 is my proxy server address here). but I
cannot ping it out.

My card (ne2000 compatibel) is produced by Novell/Athem.

Why I cannot ping other machines? Anyone who can explain it out ,please send
me an answer??

Hi Tsang,

Have you setup your gateway to go through the proxy server yet? Just to make
sure, you said you cannot even ping the proxy server at this time? Can another
machine ping you? What is the netmask setup to be on both machines?

Erick.

Eric,
thanks for reply,first.
My gateway setting is the same as my proxy server(100.0.0.1).
other machines cannot ping me.netmask setting is the same(255.255.255.0).
It’s noted that all works well under windows on this PC.
where’s the problem??

Hi,Tsang:

in Windows,run ‘winipcfg’,write down the adpter address,then in QNX,run
‘nicinfo’ to see the node ID,are they different?
if so,ask your net manager to give you another different IP for the ‘qnx
node id’
goog luck.
