Hello,
I’ve seen this question asked before, but I didn’t see any
solutions posted.
I’m trying to install to a nonpci bus machine, I’ve been able
to get the bootdisk to boot and make partition and copy
files, but when I reboot from the hd the boot process freezes
on pci-bios.
I have another qnx machine and can make a floppy boot disk
and access the hd, but I don’t know how to stop the boot process
from trying to run pci-bios. I’d like to just change the
/boot/fs/qnxbase.ifs
and remove the reference to pci-bios but I don’t know how to do this.
Your help would be appreciated.

Edit /boot/build/qnxbase.build as you wish, then run command like this:
mkifs /boot/build/qnxbase.build /boot/fs/qnx_nopci.ifs
and then copy qnx_nopci.ifs to /.boot
Hope that helps.

The current release of RTP doesn’t support booting from machines
without a PCI BIOS. BTW, what is the make/model of your machine?

I’m in the process of doing this now and will let the group
know of the results, but I don’t think the install has completed
properly. My target drive has a filesystem that has very very
few files. It looks like the install has placed a qnxbase.qfs
file in the /boot/fs/ directory. I can mount this fs and see all
of the files that need to be copied to the type79 fs.
If I make a new build file out of qnxbase.build I still won’t have
the install completed. Is there anyway to finish the installation?
There must be a command in the [+script] section of the origional
…ifs file that gets run on first boot from the harddrive. Anyone
know what that would be?
Thanks
Anthony

But I can boot the machine from a floppy that I made, I just
can’t boot with the .boot from the installation.
My PC is an old compaq prolinea MT. It used to be a 486/66
but it now has an overdrive processor. There is no PCI bus.

The original release of QNX RTP would, but was pretty much useless
on older laptops without the QNX 6 “generic” SVGA driver which doesn’t
require VESA 2.0.
I’m trying to install QNX 6 on a Dell Latitude XPi P75D with the
port replicator. Unfortunately a boot/install image with the aha2
SCSI driver is not provided.
